How the Mining Profitability Calculator Works

Our calculator uses live network data — including current mining difficulty, network hashrate, and real-time coin prices — to estimate how much cryptocurrency your hardware can earn per day, week, month, and year.

The Profitability Formula

The core calculation is based on your share of the total network hashrate:

Daily Revenue = (Your Hashrate ÷ Network Hashrate) × Block Reward × (86,400 ÷ Block Time) × Coin Price

Your net profit is the daily revenue minus your electricity cost and pool fee. This gives you an accurate estimate of what you can realistically expect to take home.

What Each Input Means

  • Hash Rate: Your miner's computational speed (found on the spec sheet).
  • Power Consumption: Total watts drawn from the wall under load.
  • Electricity Cost: What you pay per kilowatt-hour to your utility provider.
  • Pool Fee: The percentage your mining pool charges on earnings (typically 1–2%).
  • Hardware Cost: (Optional) Used to calculate your break-even date.

Why Results Are Estimates

Mining profitability changes constantly. Network difficulty adjusts roughly every two weeks for Bitcoin (and more frequently for other coins) based on how much total hashrate is competing. Coin prices fluctuate 24/7. Our calculator uses live data refreshed every 10 minutes, but treat results as directional estimates, not guaranteed returns.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends heavily on your electricity cost, the coin you mine, and your hardware efficiency. With cheap electricity (under $0.08/kWh) and modern ASIC hardware, Bitcoin and Kaspa mining can still be profitable. GPU mining is more challenging but viable for certain coins like Monero and Ravencoin. Use this calculator with your actual inputs to find out.
Profitability shifts daily with price and difficulty changes. As of 2026, Bitcoin remains the most stable choice for ASIC miners, while Kaspa (KAS) has gained popularity due to its ASIC efficiency. For GPU miners, Monero (CPU-friendly via RandomX) and Ravencoin remain popular. Always recalculate before making hardware decisions.
For Bitcoin with current-generation ASIC hardware, electricity costs below $0.06–$0.08/kWh are generally needed for consistent profit. GPU mining benefits most from rates under $0.05/kWh. In the US, industrial electricity rates in states like Texas or Wyoming can be as low as $0.03–$0.05/kWh, which is why many large mining operations are located there.
A mining pool is a group of miners who combine their hashrate to find blocks more consistently and share the rewards proportionally. Solo mining is statistically unreliable for most miners — you might go months without finding a block. Pool fees (typically 0%–2%) are a worthwhile cost for predictable, regular payouts.
Our calculator fetches live network hashrate, difficulty, block reward, and price data every 10 minutes from Minerstat. The formula is mathematically accurate based on current conditions. However, mining returns fluctuate constantly as difficulty adjusts and prices move. Consider our estimates as a reliable guide rather than a guarantee.
Break-even time is how many days of net profit it takes to recover your hardware investment. Enter your hardware cost in the optional field, and the calculator will tell you when you can expect to recoup your initial spend — assuming current market conditions remain stable.
The block reward used in the calculation reflects the current reward at the time of the API fetch — so after a halving event, the new reduced block reward is automatically used. Make sure to recalculate after any halving to understand the updated profitability.
