Reading the Results: Why the Winner Flips
Two machines that look close on revenue can be far apart on profit, because electricity is the great differentiator. Revenue scales with hashrate, but cost scales with power draw — so as your electricity rate rises, the ranking reorders in favor of efficiency (joules per unit of hashrate) rather than raw speed. A Whatsminer M66S out-earns an Antminer S21 XP on gross revenue, yet the two swap places on net profit depending on whether you pay four cents or twelve cents per kilowatt-hour. This is why we let you set your own rate instead of publishing a single "best miner" list.
Comparing across coins adds a second variable: each network's difficulty and coin price move independently, so today's most profitable coin may not be next quarter's. Cross-coin gaps also tend to close over time — hashrate migrates toward whatever pays best, dragging profitability back toward equilibrium. Treat a large cross-coin advantage as a snapshot with a shelf life, not a durable feature, and re-check it before committing capital. Finally, remember what this tool deliberately leaves out: hardware acquisition cost, cooling overhead, pool luck variance, and price volatility. A machine that "wins" here still needs its purchase price amortized — the hardware reviews carry current street prices and our payback estimates.
